For the 2026 / 2027 Season, SGRA is part of a committee working extensively to build the Capital Region AA Program. This work has been driven through collaboration with representatives from all associations in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, with a clear and unified goal of strengthening ringette at every level. The focus of this initiative has been to ensure that all athletes who wish to compete at the highest level of ringette at the U14, U16, and U19 divisions have a clear and appropriate pathway to do so.
As part of this approach, the model will move from 4 teams to 3 within each age group. This change is intended to improve the overall competitiveness at the AA level, while more importantly ensuring athletes are placed in the tier that best supports their development. Proper alignment of players will create stronger, more balanced teams across all levels within each age group, not just at AA.
This program is not solely about enhancing AA. It is about raising the standard of play across the entire system. By improving player placement, we expect to see stronger competition, better development, and a more positive experience for athletes at every level.
